Julie & Gilberto's Medical Emergency help NEEDED!
Hello everyone! An emergency has struck one of my closest work friends and I am eagerly asking for much needed assistance to help Julie & her family. Julie's husband, Gilberto, experienced a massive heart attack while traveling in Mexico taking care of his family after his sister had just recently passed away. Julie was back in the US when this happened. They have been married for nearly 40 years and I have been blessed to work with her for the last 14 years (at both Kyocera & Sonim) and there have been countless instances where she has helped me or my team out without ever batting an eye. Never afraid to jump in and help anyone, I just can't imagine all of this happening to a nicer family. Add in the pains of COVID.....Gilberto has been out of work since early 2020. Julie is our sales coordinator here at Sonim and their income is limited and this situation has taken a great toll on them and I want to help - and I'm asking for your consideration to provide some support to one of the most authentic and nicest families I promise you would ever meet!
Ok....the details.....Recently and very sadly, Gilberto's sister passed away and in order to support & take care of his family, he went to Mexico. While there, he felt sick and fainted and had a massive heart attack. THANKFULLY, they were able to transport him to a local hospital where he was able to have a successful angioplasty. However....as if being away from your wife and children during such a traumatic experience isn't bad enough, again, this all happened while he was in Mexico! I think we all know when you have any kind of medical emergency, LET ALONE AN ACTUAL EVENT, in a foreign country, the rules are often very different, and never in our favor! In this case, to only amplify the stress they were all feeling, the rules in Mexico (or at least this hospital) was that they would not release Gilberto until his bill was paid in full.
Thankfully his family in Mexico was able to make arrangements to pay the debt and get him released, however he is still in Mexico due to his health issues prohibit him from flying. Please pray for Gilberto as he works hard to prepare for the long trip back home! The plan is to return next week to their home in southern California and begin the treatment & recovery process. Julie & Gilberto are now saddled with a $15,000 loan - AND MANY unexpected & unplanned expenses to come as a direct result of this heart attack - and on 1 income, this is making life very challenging for Julie & her family.
Julie isn't one to look for ANY attention or seek help and would honestly just deal with this quietly and struggle trying to make ends meet. I am asking my friends to take a moment and sincerely consider helping Julie and her family out as they work through this very tough time. The health issues alone are enough to take pause, but when you add in the pressures and stress of adding significant unplanned debt to your life, it can exacerbate the situation and take a great toll on the health & well-being of everyone involved. EVERY DOLLAR HELPS and will go such a long way in reducing not only the economic and mental stress that they are both going through, but the road to recovery Gilberto must face.
We all have our own challenges to face, but for those of you who are able to lend a hand, please, please, please do. Please keep Gilberto & Julie in your prayers and may the grace of God speed up his recovery & restore him back to good health! If you are able to donate, please do and know it will be so gratefully appreciated by Julie & Gilberto. All donations will be transferred to Julie once I connect with her and help her set up the transfer process to her bank. Again, I ask you all to take a step back and consider helping a great friend of mine as she focuses on getting her husband back to health and struggling to manage this new financial strain that has greatly burdened her family. Prayers UP!
With most sincere thanks for your thoughts, prayers and any assistance you can provide,
Sean
