Tia&Evan Drury-Navigating Unimaginable Loss & New Realities

The Drury family has been hit by an unthinkable tragedy, twice. It is with very heavy hearts that we share the sudden and unexpected passing of Julie Drury on July 7, 2025, at the age of 54, following a heart attack. This profound loss comes just two and a half years after the tragic loss of her beloved husband, Don Drury, at the age of 51. Julie and Don were soulmates who shared 25 beautiful years of marriage, a true partnership filled with love, laughter, and strength; both were taken from us far too soon.

Julie was the anchor of her family — a devoted and loving mother, always putting her children first. Her gentle spirit, kind heart, and quiet thoughtfulness touched everyone who knew her. She was always the one who constantly checked in on others, especially during their time of need. Now, it's our turn to follow her example and rally to support her children, Evan (25) and Tia (23), as they navigate a new reality of life without either parent.

This unimaginable grief is compounded by significant practical challenges. Tia lives with a long-term disability that has impacted her ability to live independently, and as a result, is on the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP). While ODSP provides some financial assistance for living expenses and medical care, it is insufficient and falls short of covering her actual costs for necessities like housing, food, transportation and her specialized medical care and needs.

Until now, Tia relied on her mother, Julie, for much of this crucial support. Now, her brother, Evan, has lovingly stepped into the role of primary caregiver for Tia. Evan is suddenly shouldering this immense responsibility for his sister's well-being at a very young age, all while grappling with the heartbreaking loss of both of his parents and the weight of their new reality.

They need our urgent help, and we are humbly asking for your support to help Tia and Evan. Your financial generosity will directly help alleviate the financial burdens, funeral costs, medical concerns and ensure Tia's necessities are met, providing stability during this incredibly difficult time.

All funds raised will be directed to a Henson Trust for Tia's benefit. This is a special, legally compliant trust under Ontario law that allows funds to be used for in Tia's case, quality of life, and disability-related needs without impacting her vital ODSP status or eligibility. Evan, as her Henson Trustee, will manage these funds responsibly and in accordance with ODSP and legal requirements, for Tia's immediate and future care and needs.

Whether you're able to contribute financially or simply share the link to this GoFundMe link, every act of support, no matter how small, will make a profound difference to the Drury family during this incredibly difficult time.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love, generosity and for helping us ensure Tia has the support she needs for the years to come!
