Julie Ann & the kids want to bring Paty home

Hey everyone, this space has been created to see if we can raise funds to support our rescue of Paty from Spain. Her story, and her current foster family have been verified by a wonderful friend who knows them personally and we all agree that our colourful home couldn’t be a better match for her.

For those of you who know us, we’ve had quite a few years. In the midst of family court battles we had to say farewell to Ellie (some of you are lucky enough to have met her over her 12 years with us). Our hearts have been broken in so many ways, and I know that we are finally ready to have a family dog again.

This is her story, which given my doula role became too difficult to allow money be the thing to get in the way:

“This gorgeous girl has had a really awful life so far. She was found hanging from a tree, with her sister at the other end of the rope. They were both taken to the local protectora, where she then got pregnant.

Sadly despite emergency surgery she lost all of her pups, as she had an infection in the birth canal. She is currently recovering in foster, but once she is better she will have to go back to the same shelter. We REALLY want to prevent that happening if we can, and this girl really needs our help after all she's been through.

She is only 12kg, great with other dogs and cats, and despite everything she had been through is so loving and affectionate. She really needs a forever home, so PLEASE share and help us make her future brighter.”

We’ve seen more photos and a short video of her online too now, learning that her age is somewhere between 2-3 years old. And we’ve even heard that the fate of her sister was positive. Her sister at the other end of the rope was also pregnant and had her pups shortly after being rescued, and she now has a home with another family in Spain.

I’ve thought very carefully about adding another expenditure to our lives, at a time when we are struggling sometimes to even pay the bills that we have. The benefits that Paty would bring - particularly to me (Julie Ann) during the repercussions of family court - would be tremendous and I have accepted that she will be received here as a medicine for us all. There is no way that this can be possible without charity from friends and family to raise funds for her adoption fee (€250) and her travel expenses from Spain (€540). But her ongoing daily expenditure we are confident we can meet.

Paty is still recovering from her ordeal, and they estimate she would be ready for the big trip within 2 months. We really wanted to see if that would be enough time to raise these funds.

Malachy’s birthday was last week and he has already put a £20 note in a tin to get the ball rolling, and I’ve had some second hand sales that will be going straight in there. We also have a community Garage Sale day coming up in our town which we will be dedicating proceeds to this fundraiser too.

We also can’t believe that her name is Paty ☘️ She seems perfect for our Irish family and Orla is now taking Spanish classes in school so will be able to communicate with her until she learns English :)

Please help. This is not just for Paty, but for us too.
