Hello my name is Julia Sugden, I have been attending Cal Baptist University for the past year trying to obtain my bachelor’s degree in early childhood development. Taking on school and a fulltime job has been tough, but I have managed to juggle both in the past year that I have been doing this. Me being as naive as I am didn't realize that there would be an out of pocket cost for my tuition. I figured with my income that financial aid would take care of it and later on I would start paying off my loans once I was out of school with a better paying job, I couldn't have been more wrong. After speaking with my counselor she reassured me that the more units I accumulate the more financial aid I would receive and that out of pocket cost would eventually get lower. Well, this is true, but every year they raise the tuition and I am stuck paying more than I originally owed. Every four months I owe $1,000.00 to the school BEFORE I can move on to my next semester. 2016 I started in spring so I was able to manage paying these balances because of Tax return money and the help of some family. I am now stuck and asking for help. My ultimate goal is six thousand because I have two years of school left, $1,000 every four months would come out to $6,000 (of course not including books, tuition raises, and any other needs for school), but I am trying to raise the first three thousand so I don’t have to worry or stress about this year and will give me a chance to save as much money as I can to be able to pay off the 2018 balances. In the past school was never a priority, but I am so eager to get my degree and finally be working in a field that I know I will love. Since the $6,000 would be for the next two years there is no rush for me to have it right away and with the Holiday season I understand if you cannot help. I too set aside as much money as I can each paycheck to pay this balance, but that gets difficult at times. I don't want to lose my chance at getting my Bachelor’s degree and I would appreciate any help I can receive. Thank you all in advance.
