As anyone who has ever met Julianna knows, she is the most spontaneous, adventurous, and absolutely hilarious person - full of life and wonder for the world. Julianna lives life to the fullest - which is exactly what she was doing when her accident occurred.

 

On Friday, November 19th, Julianna was swimming in Hawaii with friends in a safe area they knew well. She dove into the water as she had been doing all day, but this time something went wrong. Julianna was unable to move, but with the help of her friends and strangers nearby, she was rescued and rushed to the Queens Medical Center of Honolulu. MRI results show Julianna sustained a C5 burst fracture, epidural hematoma from C2 - C3, and mild spinal cord compression from C4 - C5. She underwent surgery on Saturday, November 20th with no complications, but the extent of her injury and prognosis are uncertain at this time. Julianna is not yet medically stable and cannot come back to Minnesota at this time. She is in the ICU and anticipated to be in the hospital for several months with rehabilitation to follow.
