- We have looked into as many options as possible, but we cannot afford to fix Julianna's sensory/therapy space in the basement. The sewage destroyed everything and our insurance only covered demo and sanitization.
Not having this space is triggering her catatonia. She has had to start medication for her catatonia again which she hasn't needed for years.
Our friends and family know of Julianna's struggles, but to those who do not..
Julianna has a long list of medical and developmental challenges. She is non verbal, has autism, a history of catatonia, has significant learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, refractory epilepsy, ehlers danlos, asthma, and thyroid issues.
The basement has always been a safe place for her. She needs it multiple times a day and helps with her pain, emotional challenges and to regulate when her sensory issues are completely overwhelming. I knew it was helpful and needed, but I had no idea how much until it hasn't been available to her.
We are seeking funds to fix the cement and put a new floor down. With the floor taken care of, we are hoping to cover the cost of the rest of the repairs.
We really hate having to ask for help again. We are however thankful that we have the option. Her well being is more important than our pride. We live to make Julianna as happy and comfortable as possible.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you can help, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Every little bit helps.
