Vuela Alto, Julian!

One must be grateful for what has been given, and 15 years of Julian will be plenty to cherish and —as the years would go by— to keep on learning from the experience. We are starting a new path, which will be challenging without a doubt, but I know that many of you will be there and we thank you for that.

Some folks have been asking if they can help or chip in in any way. Due to geographic and Covid limitations, if you feel like you want to do more, we would appreciate it if you use the GoFundMe campaign to donate. We sill have hospital bills to cover, and your support would be of great help.

Julian's life taught us that many unknown doors could be open. We hope that we can help Erika and Miguel on their new path.

Hasta pronto, Julian!

My name is Julian Rivera Mendoza. I am a 15 years-old teenager from San Salvador, El Salvador.  Since I was 3-years old, I have been fighting a tumor in the Hypothalamus portion of my brain. The tumor cannot be removed due its location. My mom and dad, as well as the rest of my family, have been fighting trough all these years by my side, hoping that one day I can enjoy a normal life. Together, we have been through many surgeries, chemotherapy, physiotherapy, and long and extended periods of time at different hospitals in multiple countries. Most definitely, you can say that my life has been intense.

On March 18, 2020, I suffered a cerebral hemorrhage that sent me back to the hospital. I was at the intensive care unit of the Hospital de Diagnóstico in San Salvador, once again, fighting. Then, again, on April 8th, I had a second hemorrhage and went back to the Intensive Care Unite. These two episodes, plus the stroke I suffered back in 2015 in Guatemala City, added to my story. This is why my aunt Maura, created a GoFundMe campaing and called it: "3 Strokes & Going Strong."

In the middle of all of this, the country is dealing with the COVID-19. We are trying to go forward to the best of our possibilities and financial means.  I cannot go to a public hospital, as they all have been designated as COVID-19 emergency sites. This is why I am still at a private hospital, with bills  piling up. My folks already are facing hard times to meet this financial burden. We need to raise funds to pay for the hospital.

My family and I will be grateful for every dollar we receive as a contribution to this new effort.

If you are unable to donate, please share this link with your friends, neighbors and family members to reach out as many people we can. It is easy to share this campaign on social media with the hashtag: #3Strokes&GoingStrong

¡Mil Gracias!
