Hi everyone my name is Wendy, and I’m fundraising for my baby Juju (also Truffles) to save his life.

Juju was admitted to the Queen Mother Hospital for Small Animals Saturday evening via emergency referral. I found him lying on his side looking very sad when I left my room that morning and contacted an out of hours vet immediately. He has had a blocked bladder once before so I recognised the symptoms and knew right away that that was likely what he was experiencing. The out of hours vet confirmed my suspicions and had me leave him there with them and pick him up later to transfer to an overnight vet. When I showed up as scheduled however, they told me that things were much worse than we had anticipated - they think he’s going to need ureteric bypass surgery (SUB) imminently.

Things got even worse later that evening when the team at Queen Mother Hospital called to inform me that he has an infection in his tummy, the cause of which was impossible to determine at this juncture. The next morning, surgical team told me over the phone that the mortality rate for such cases was as high as 50% and that he needed immediate surgical treatment. And given how dangerous this infection is, they were not considering SUB surgery until the infection is cleared. They also found a stone lodged in his urethra - causing blockage. To remedy this, they had planned to flush it back into his bladder, but that didn’t work. They had no choice but to perform a perineal urethrostomy on him. Queen Mother Hospital has put the estimated cost for his treatment at between £12000-14000.

He is currently recovering at the Hospital and the team there says he’s doing okay. However, they told me he is very likely going to need SUB surgery in the future (another £12000-14000) but we are taking things one day at a time.

Juju has already maxed out his insurance coverage (£3000) when he went into the emergency vet for a blocked bladder for the first time in February. He has also been experiencing cystitis on and off for the past few months. His insurance provider considered the two as the same condition so I had to cover the vet bill myself (over £2000).

His surgeries aren’t something that I can afford. My friends and family have all chipped in to help me cover the hospital deposit.

I’ve had Juju since he was a 13 week old kitten and for the past five years he has been the light of my life. Please help me save my baby’s life, any amount would be much appreciated. The funds will be used to cover cost of the surgery he has just had.
