Tourette’s service dog

Hello,

My name is Kailee. I have been diagnosed with Tourette’s since earlier this year, the symptoms have progressed very fast since then. I have self injurious tics where I punch myself a lot mostly in the face and head. I give myself bruises, black eyes and even have given myself a concussion. The tics get so bad I can’t drive and it greatly affects my work. I am afraid to go out in public because of how bad my tics can get especially with a lot of people. I’ve tried all sorts of medications, a lot don’t work for me or they cause me to feel like a zombie. I don’t feel like myself at all and I can barely stay awake, it’s basically a sedative. I can’t drive not only because of my tics but also in fear of falling asleep and I’ve had to quit the job because of these reasons. A service dog would allow me to go off or lessen my medication. It would allow me more independence and confidence in public. A service dog would give me a little back of normalcy in my life.

You may wonder how a service dog would help me?

There are many tasks a service dog can do to assist me. A few examples are that they can detect a tic attack, they can block or distract tics, help maintain coordination and balance when tics start and can do deep pressure therapy to lessen the tics. I also struggle with depression, anxiety, adhd, and a mood disorder. I plan to have the service animal learn tasks for these issues as well.

The price of a dog and the training is very high, I have tried to save up money but I need help to get my independence back. Training a service dog takes at least 2 years to complete so you can imagine how much all that training will be. I have calculated all the costs of what entails getting and training a service dog. Any small amount would be deeply appreciated!! I am hoping to get one and start training it as soon as possible. Please help me if you can.
