Judy Grimsley's Cancer Journey

Donation protected

Judy Grimsley is a wife, mother, sister, daughter, teacher, co-worker and friend to many, many people.  She is one that will never ask for help, but will go above and beyond to help others as a friend and a dedicated teacher.  Well, now she needs our help!!!!

Judy was diagnosed with triple negative invasive ductal carcinoma in June of 2013.  This was the beginning of an extremely long road of breast cancer for her.  She went into the hospital to have a lumpectomy, but ended up coming out of that surgery with a partial mastectomy and the beginning of extremely strong chemo because her cancer is so rare and very aggressive.  They discovered that it had spread to her lymphnodes and had to remove those too.  The other complication at this time was that she has a pacemaker and the "pocket" that holds that had to be removed to make sure all the margins were taken.  This in turn created another issue because the pacemaker kept slipping down towards her lungs.

The path of chemo played a huge toll on her body.  She had to spend 5 weeks in the hospital around this time because it affected her walking, strength, cognitive ability and the pacemaker wasn't wanting to work correctly.  This stay in the hospital was without pay because she had already take a lot of time off for the mascetomy surgery and chemo treatments.
Over these past, almost, 3 years she has endured over 15 surgeries.  Many of them during the school year where she had to take time off without pay.  These included a full hysterectomy, several reconstructive surgeries, pacemaker surgeries and this last one being the most critical.  She had to have open heart surgery to replace the leads to her pacemaker and make sure it would work correctly because the chemo has damaged her heart.

Judy and her family have endured unending expenses without her pay.  They have met 3 different deductibles, 3 out of pocket expenses and have had to continue to pay for her insurance premiums without her pay as a teacher.  As we all know, teachers are not paid for their worth and these have all been huge expenses for her and her family. She continues to have several medical bills she is trying to pay off from 3 years ago and the bills continue to mount.  So, any help that can be given will be to pay off the bills that have run up over these last 3 years as well as pay living expenses due to her inabliltiy to work.

This is an extremely difficult thing for she and her family to do.  They have a hard time asking for anything and that is why we have set this up for them.  They will be extremely thankful for anything and everything that is done for them.  I hope you will really consider helping them out during this difficult time.  It will be greatly appreciated.
