Today I am writing on behalf of my best friend Judy O’Connell.
Judy and I have been through many of life storms together. We have been friends for over 40 years and never lost contact! I moved around a lot and settled in Florida. In 2001 Judy and I were reunited when she and her family moved to Florida too! Not long after, due to devastating circumstances, Judy became a single parent to 3 amazing kids:
Twins Kyle and Kelly and her youngest Kaitlyn. She’s worked hard to provide for her children, working 2 jobs for the last 8 years. Judy was diagnosed with Thymoma cancer 2 years ago…had an operation and beat it through the Grace of God.
Now, 5 days before Christmas 2018, she received another devastating diagnosis. She has a mass on her liver, causing excruciating pain throughout her back. It turns out to be Adenocarcinoma stage 3 Liver Cancer, not knowing where it started she had to go for an endoscopy the following week to see if the cancer was in her stomach thankfully it wasn’t. However, during this procedure they had found a clump of lymph nodes between the liver and pancreas. A biopsy of that area was taken in order to see whether the cancer is in the pancreas. If so, the cancer is a stage 4.
Here the battle begins. The aggressive six and a half hour chemo therapy attempting to shrink the tumor might affect her ability to work. She is so focused on helping her children lead successful lives and is worried about her ability to do so if she is unable to work. Medical bills can be unsurmountable with this aggressive treatment. If you know Judy she is strong willed and will conquer this storm, as well, by the Grace of God and a little help from her friends and family.
