Judy McNew

Hi - I’m Alycia Erickson, the wife of Judy McNew. Judy was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 . She had a double mastectomy and a cycle of radiation. She’s been on a hormone-blocking medication ever since. In late July 2021, she wasn’t feeling well. She went to the ER and they found that the cancer had returned and spread throughout her spine. After further testing in Colorado Springs, she has been diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer that has spread throughout her bones (back, arms, other bones). She is beginning two medications that are blockers of various forms, and will undergo radiation to help alleviate the terrible pain she is experiencing. Her cancer cannot be cured at this point. However, there are several options that can help extend her life and quality of life. We hope to have at least another year, if not two or three or even more, with her with these treatments.

We are devastated. Judy can no longer work due to the pain and symptoms she’s experiencing. We have completed her application for disability. I am currently using paid leave from my job as a pastor in Colorado Springs to care for her full-time. We have COBRA insurance coverage from her previous employer that costs $937 per month. We have many medical expenses right now: co-pays for doctor visits, our portion (20%) of her hospital stay July 30-August 1 at Memorial North in Colorado Springs, and her many prescription co-pays. We’d had savings but have depleted them paying for her medical care these past few years. If you wish to contribute to help us with these medical expenses, we would be deeply grateful. Thank you.
