Judy Goad King Memorial Scholarship

In an effort to preserve Mrs. King’s legacy and show our appreciation for her 28 years of teaching we are establishing the “Judy Goad King Memorial Scholarship” to be awarded to a Galax High School graduating senior pursing a degree in education. 

The Galax Foundation for Excellence in Education is dedicated to making post-secondary education available to qualified graduates of the Galax City School system. To date, the Foundation has given more than $1 million dollars in scholarships to Galax graduates. During 2016 scholarship night, the Foundation gave away over $80,000. The Foundation’s endowment is now worth over $2.5 million, which funds more than 80 different scholarships each year.
 
With the blessing of her family, this Go Fund Me page was created to accept contributions to reach the $5,000 minimum needed to establish Mrs. King’s scholarship. Even if we do not reach the $5,000 this year, donations of any amount will be held by the Foundation and accumulate in value until the endowed amount of $5000 is reached. Once established with the Foundation, anyone can continue to contribute to the scholarship for years to come.
