THE DOCUMENTARY...
This is the story of Judson and his legacy, which continues to inspire countless people all over the world. This is also the story of the Levasheffs, who were forever changed by the suffering and the death of their son. Because while their son slowly lost his ability to move, God moved closer to them through him. When the disease took his sight, God gave them a vision of his love through his eyes. And when he died, God showed them life in the image of His Son.
GOAL
JUDSON’S EYES is a feature documentary based on an award winning short film (JUDSON’S EYES, by Peter Chung) and a moving book (EYES THAT SEE, by Christina Levasheff). Please consider joining us and becoming an integral part of a film that will offer faith and hope in Jesus Christ to anyone who may be suffering. After the release of the film, we will continue to partner with JUDSON’S LEGACY and other non-profits to help raise awareness of the film and, in turn, use the film to support Krabbe and Leukodystrophy research. Additional funds beyond the cost of production are designated for Judson's Legacy, a non-profit organization with a mission to sharing God’s love for the brokenhearted while funding leukodystrophy research as a tangible expression of that love.
SYNOPSIS
Judson Levasheff was born on December 24th, 2004. He was the ultimate Christmas gift for Christina and Drake, who had trouble conceiving and had given up on having children. When Judson was 2 years old, he started showing signs of illness. After a whirlwind of misdiagnoses, the Levasheffs finally learned that Judson had infantile Krabbe disease. A fatal genetic disease that slowly takes away the brain’s ability to communicate with the body. Over the next 5 months, Judson lost the ability to see, hear, speak, and move. Judson’s parents were devastated. Their bright, happy, intelligent boy was suddenly struggling to do basic things like eating and sitting up on his own. One evening, Judson’s dad Drake watched as he struggled to eat his dinner. Judson’s eyesight and coordination had decreased to the point that something that had been so easy for the toddler had now become almost impossible. Drake burst into tears, overwhelmed by the suffering of his son. But then Judson did something remarkable. He started quoting from his toddler Bible. “One day a man ran to Job and said, ‘Your children and animals have died!’ Did Job get angry at God? No. ‘God gave me all I have,’ said Job, ‘And I will still love him.’” In spite of all his suffering, two year old Judson spoke words that revealed a deeper understanding of suffering, grace, and hope. Everyone who knew Judson felt the same thing. In the smile of this dying boy, you saw the hope of heaven. On November 7th 2007, Judson died in his parents’ arms.
IT IS THE GREATEST MYSTERY OF GOD THAT HE CHOSE TO SHOW HIS GREATEST ACT OF LOVE THROUGH AN ACT OF SUFFERING; THAT DELIVERANCE WOULD COME BY THE DEATH OF HIS OWN BELOVED SON.
