Judith "Mayor of Judithville" Robertson

If you are reading this, you likely already know the legend that is Judith Robertson. She has been a staple in the Outward Bound community for decades and has worked across multiple bases, course areas, and countries.

It is with a sad heart that we are sharing that Judith was diagonosed with cancer recently and is having surgery on March 25th, 2024. This page is to assist Judith with her post-operative care.

Judith lives in an off-grid cabin outside of Nelson, BC. After surgery she will not be able to go back to her cabin for some time. She also won't be able to drive for at least 30 days. She's incredibly independent so you can imagine how uncomfortable all of this is for her. Judith has a plan for the first week after surgery, but we're appealing to the COBS and the OB community at large to assist in covering the cost of providing Judith with a safe, comfortable, utility-enabled place so she can recover and have guests as needed.

Beyond her housing needs, Judith also had to decline her contract for Outward Bound this season. In short, her world has been turned upside down. We would like to ask that if Judith has had an impact on you, if she influenced your life, or if you believe in her work and her dedication to OB, can you help us exceed this goal? She is truly someone who has embodied "to serve, to strive, and not to yield". Outward Bound's mission is "to change lives through challenge and discovery". Now it seems the teacher is the student.

The funds collected are being overseen by a small group of former COBS staff. We are working as a team to make sure Judith has what she needs when she needs it.

UPDATE: Post Surgery has gone better than expected. Judith is renting a small place next to the water in Nelson, she can walk all around town, grocery post etc... She is sore as to be expected. But she is in great spirits just as you would expect. Can we push this campaign over the $13k mark...I trust that we can.
