Our son Jude was born on May 22nd. 2020 with a Congenital Heart Defect requiring open heart surgery. He has a Supracristal Ventral Septal Defect (VSD) or hole in his heart.
Supracristal VSD is the least common type of VSD in the Western Hemisphere. The location of the Supracristal VSD, with its close proximity to the aortic valve, accounts for the common development of aortic insufficiency with this defect. the defect will not repair itself or close. This, left-to-right shunting of blood through the defect is believed to progressively pull aortic valve tissue. (especially the right coronary cusp). through a Venturi effect.
We were notified today 09/21/20 that his surgery is scheduled for Monday 09/28/20. We will need to stay in PHX for approximately one month. This includes pre-op, surgery, inpatient hospital stay and post-op appointments. Due to COVID-19, the hospital is not providing housing at the Ronald McDonald house.
Donations will be used for travel, housing, medical bills and any other unforeseen expenses.
We appreciate you being apart of helping our family through Jude’s medical condition. Please pray for a successful surgery with no complications.
Thank you kindly,
Rebecca Duffey & Rebecca Lidstrom
