As some of you are aware, 3 weeks ago my partner Hannah's son Jude suddenly lost the use of both his legs and hands due to inflammation on his spinal cord. He is suffering with Profound Tetraplegia.

This has been caused by a very rare illness called Transverse Myelitis (TM). TM is an auto-immune illness that as caused inflammation in the nerves in his spine. There is a 1:1000000 chance of getting this illness, it is so rare that on average a GP will see this only once in 100 years.

He has been in Great Ormond street for a month now having extensive treatment for this condition and sadly they have not seen the results they expected, and have gotten him a place at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in North London. Initially he was going there for an extended period to learn to walk again but now they are suggesting but a few weeks to teach him to learn to live with this new condition. Whilst it can affect people in different ways, Jude is paralysed from the waist down and has very little use of his arms and even less in his fingers.

We are all still struggling to comprehend this, especially Jude. It was only a few weeks ago he was regularly going to the gym, playing football and spending time with his friends. Please do not to take your health and fitness for granted.

We have had many offers of help and support but there is little that can be done for now but I would like to raise some funds to help towards ongoing care costs we will incur to make the house a home for Jude again.

Jude and his brothers lost their dad who died very suddenly whilst riding home from work, one day. He was only 36.

I am not looking for handouts, but sponsorship! I intend to virtually complete a lifetime ambition of walking the pilgrimage of St. James, also known as El Camino de Santiago. This is a virtual challenge by Conqueror Events and I will be completing 480 miles or 772 km on foot, bike and cross trainer. If you know me, you will know I am time poor but intend to start this weekend and keep pushing aggressively until it's complete.

I would really appreciate if you or your company would sponsor me to help me meet this target, and if you can’t then all I ask is that you share this post for me.

On behalf of us all, thank you x
