Jude’s Foot Uprising

update after two weeks!

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your amazing generosity towards this fundraiser as I learned on Brandy way of living over the last few weeks. Unless we left you, I was focusing on my foot, being a major issue, and it was. After three surgeries, I managed to find a place of stability with the bottom of my foot and how it is on the healing process. I’m not sure when I’ll be ready to go home, but every day I am trying to be better than I am the day before. However, as most things do when it comes to me, I not only became ill with an infection in my foot, but my arthritis, which has not been an issue really, in any number of years, has become wildly problematic. In the last four days or so, I have had massive swelling in my fingers, my wrists, my arms and my legs. I’m sure there are other places there’s swelling happening as well. They’ve started me on two ways to try to address that. One way is that they begin a course of dialysis so that I can clean out my system and have that help with all the toxins that have been built up in my body. the other thing that I’ve started, is looking at where I’m going to be moving in terms of moving to a rehab that is much more hands-on after I leave the hospital. The pain that I feel in my arms and my hand is in my wrist, are as bad as I remember Pam being one I was 18 when I first diagnosed with arthritis, the good news is they have me started on prednisone. Some of you might hate it. But when you can’t move your hands at all, and prednisone allows you to at least push a button to change the channel or call for help, you are grateful for the drug.

so that is where things are currently, I am still trying to recover from my foot. I will still be recovering from whatever this arthritis flareup those to me, and I’m still getting used to the new normal with being a dialysis patient and a kidney patient.

who knows how long this is going to last. I raise the total of the fundraiser a bit in case this goes longer than anyone has anticipated. I just wanted to take a moment to express my huge amounts of gratitude for what we’ve managed to raise so far. It is beyond a dream to feel someone’s tangible love for you whether it’s sending a message to check in or it’s sending a card to say hello, or to donation beyond anything you could have anticipated. Thank you again for all of your hair and compassion. I will do my best to update things here more regularly.

Easter Updare

Hey all, thanks for stopping by. I’m Jude (in case you didn’t know), and I am putting together this fundraiser for myself as I’m being faced with a totally unexpected and pretty devastating injury. Over the last several months I’ve been struggling with a medical condition that required an admission to the hospital in February. The stay really didn’t help enough and so I was readmitted on Easter Sunday to try to improve things. I expected to be in the hospital for maybe 5 days and then a return home to get back to my life. However, when I checked in, a secondary issue was discovered with a major bacterial infection in my left foot. Shockingly, this soon became the primary reason I was hospitalized. I’ve had two surgeries and anticipate having a third this week and then an expectation I will stay off my foot for at least 6 weeks. If my insurance approves it, I will be admitted into a rehabilitation facility after my hospital stay, which would be nearly three weeks of unexpected time off, not to mention the recovery time after. I will be submitting my FMLA paperwork as soon as my Doctor finishes filling it out and I will also have a small amount of short term disability payments every week, but not nearly enough to make up what I usually make from my two paychecks. These funds will go towards paying my rent, covering my utilities and bills, and to go towards my future medical expenses which will certainly be huge after at least two weeks of skilled care. I appreciate you taking the time to read through all this as I start the very long road to a very unexpected recovery.

love to you all
