Daddy's Heart Transplant
My daddy is such a good man and always been in good health. He's only 46 years old. He was working in the coal mines when he had cardiac arrest. His heart stopped for several minutes but his friend punched him in the chest and brought him back. When he seen a heart doctor they said he needed to have open heart surgery and a valve in his heart replaced. But he didn't do it because he was afraid. It's been 2 years since then. This past Christmas eve on Dec. 24, 2014 he went into cardiac arrest and his heart stopped again. When he went to the hospital, the doctors sent him to the UK hospital in Kentucky to have that surgery. He went in walking, talking, eating, breathing on his own, and able to move himself. Then he had the surgery. They said it was only suppose to be a 4 to 6 hour surgery. But then 12 hours passed before it was over with. We knew something was wrong. The doctors came out and said my dad's heart was completely damaged, swollen and only had 7% function. If he had the surgery 2 years ago it wouldn't made no difference. He needed the surgery when he was about 15. The doctors said they didn't know how my dad was still alive. He had to have a LVAD and RVAD. Two metal things in his heart doing everything for him to keep him alive. Now to this day 9-29-15 my dad has been down there for over 9 months. In that time he's had 5 open heart surgeries, his kidneys and liver completely failed but came back, almost bled to death 2 times because some how the RVAD came loose and that made him bleed out in 5 seconds but he fought through it. Then some how he had holes come in his bowels, they couldn't get it to stop bleeding. It got so bad the doctors had all our family come in his room because they said he wasn't gonna make it through the night. But he made it through. With 2 bowel surgeries they found the bleeds and stopped them. They also said he should have died 5 or 6 times. He didn't though. He's a true fighter and such an inspiration to never give up. With the mercy of God he can now walk 640 feet with the help of a few nurses. But he still can't breath on his own, eat or do much by himself. He has ate two meals in 9 months. He can't eat because when he swallows food it goes in his lungs so he's on a ventilator and he has a feeding tube. He's doing so much better now. All that's holding him back right now to be put on the heart transplant list is being on the vent. As soon as he gets off of it they're going to list him. So I (his daughter) made this page to ask for donations for our family. Him and my mom has bills and everything you could think of. Its hard to go see him because we live 3 hours away and struggling with money. Plus I'm asking for donations because before he got sick he was in the middle of building a house for his family. Its halfway done. We'd like to have it finished by the time he gets his heart transplant. So when he comes home he won't have to live in an apartment. He can come to HIS home. So please I ask anybody and everybody to find it in their heart to help him and his family. Anything will help!!! Thank you in advance!!
