Joaquin’s Medical

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lina and the handsome boy in the photo is my nephew Joaquin. On December 13th, my Sister-in-law shared:
This has been our life for the last few months. I know social media can be deceiving, we post happy pictures of special moments, kids succeeding, birthdays, family reunions, etc. Joaquin has been struggling with chronic stomach issues, this has been happening since 2018. Long story short, he’s backed up. Severely backed up. He has a really good gastroenterologist at Nemours, who I trust and respect. They’ve been checking in on him several times a week. The medications he’s been on seem to be helping, but it’s a slow process. He is struggling with gastritis, which is very painful. Any stomach bug will take him months for the lining of his stomach to heal. He literally can’t afford to be around anyone who is sick or may be feeling sick. Sometimes people struggle quietly, and it’s ok. We all need time to process and understand how to deal with certain situations. Please send good thoughts our way. If you want to send him a card, let me know I’ll message you our address. It sure would cheer him up, as he hasn’t even been playing soccer. It’s that bad.

On January 30th, Joaquin finally had the endoscopy/colonoscopy with biopsy of several areas. As far as what was visible, everything looks great. However, on February 1st, Juaquin was admitted to the hospital after he couldn’t keep anything down for 24 hours. He was released on the 4th after breaking his fever. On February 5th, the pain and fever were back. Today, February 6th, his fever rose to 104.3 and they are taking him to the ER. They went to an ER but they weren’t helpful so they are searching for yet another hospital.
The hospital he was previously admitted to said nothing came back, not form the colonoscopy or the endoscopy, none of the labs for urine or blood, they did so many tests and nothing. They call it “functional a domain Al pain”. The doctor explained that they don’t know what causes it, why, or when it can happen. Some people live like this and the only thing that helps is diet and exercise.
This whole situation has my brother and sister-in-law constantly taking trips to the hospital and staying with Joaquin. Their oldest is often having to stay with close friends worried about her brother. My sister-in-law is set to return to work on February 13th and is out of PTO as we speak. The least thing her and the family should have to worry about is getting her back to work. This loving momma should be able to financially stay home with my nephew to care for him which is why I created this GoFundMe on their behalf. My sister-in-law is truly an amazing person and deserves this. She helped a complete stranger find a kindney through FB AND carried a baby for her best friends. Let’s help her out! If you are able to financially help them, we would be so grateful. Most importantly, let’s help my nephew get healthy so he can return to playing soccer which he loves so much! Please pray for him! A share will go a long way.
She will receive all of the donations.
