On the 21st of November, our friend, our coworker, our brother, Juanito Guzman went into the hospital in Buda, Texas due to stomach pain and feeling weak. It was quickly apparent that the source was something very serious. His colon had ruptured, and it was poisoning him from the inside. After emergency surgery his heart stopped, they resuscitated him but was too critically and seriously ill that the hospital didn’t have the proper equipment and man power to heal him there. They put Juanito on a helicopter bound for Temple, Texas where his heart stopped again when he arrived. Since then, Juanito’s heart stopped a third time and his organs went in shock. Juanito has undergo multiple surgeries to clean and reexamine his stomach. He has had several transfusions and is on dialysis to help clean the sepsis in his blood. All this time, his mother and brother have not left his side. His family has been present and attentive. The road to recovery is uncertain, and the long term effects will only show with time, but for now, we know what is needed for his family. Juanito’s mother and brother is taking time from work. His mother, Martha is by his side, where she and Eugene would like to remain, to help with his care, and to keep his spirits up. This is where they need to be. This is where Juanito needs them to be. Juanito Guzman lost his battle with sepsis. Juanito passed peacefully with his mother Martha Guzman , his father Eugene Guzman III and his brother Eugene Guzman IV by his side. Medical staff made sure he was comfortable through his shift to his new life. Medical staff did everything in their power to try to save, heal and comfort Juanito.
