Juanita Ray Memorial Scholarship

Donation protected
Juanita Ray, a long time resident of the City of Compton, worked for the Compton Unified School District for over 40 years.  Education, Community and Service were her passions.  She worked to create and establish many educational programs for the children of Compton ranging from after school enrichment programs to student home tutoring programs.  All these efforts were to help the children of Compton succeed.  Juanita began her working career at Dickison Elementary School but traveled to several other schools before settling in to her beloved Centennial Senior High School where she served as the Community Liaison for close to 30 years.  During her tenure she helped countless parents and their students to understand their rights and take advantage of the many opportunities available for success.  She loved her job and her community, working countless hours to secure state and federal funds to better educate the children of Compton.  Her love, passion and dedication to Centennial High School is why her family wants to establish "The Juanita Ray Memorial Scholarship" .  This will be a scholarship given each year to a graduating student from Centennial High School that has shown educational achievement and has been admitted to either a college or vocational program.  This scholarship will allow our Mother's Legacy to live on in the lives of future generations to come. We do hope you will make a contribution.
