Juanita is the mother of one of my greatest friends, but she was also so much more. She was my neighbor, whose home and pozole will always be near and dear to my heart. She was a role model in all of our lives. She was gentle and giving, but also witty, independent, creative and full of life and strength. Juanita could carry a Christmas tree on her own, start a fire from scratch, outshine everyone on the dance floor, and was known for driving around the front yard on her John Deere lawn mower, waving at those passersby.
Juanita came to the U.S. decades ago, to build a better life for herself and her family, and she did just that. She married, had children, revitalized a historic home and built a beautiful life here. Her plan was always to return to Mexico and that is where she will be laid to rest—in the town she grew up in.
We are asking to please help and support the Lopez family in this time of need. Donations will go directly to the Lopez family to assist with Juanita’s memorial services in Mexico and for future unforeseen expenses.
Juanita Lopez is truly loved and will be extremely missed by many, many people but especially by Joyce and Jake. Please send them your love during this difficult time.
