Juan de Dios Garcia was 58 years old.  He would be turning 59 this coming March.  He was originally from Jalisco, Mexico and  believed that any time God wished to take him, he would be ready.   He lived his life following The Golden Rule:  treat others as you want to be treated and as you want your family to be treated.

But although his faith in the Lord was strong, Covid-19 came to visit one day in late January, 2021 and didn't let go.   He loved his family (his wife, two children, a grandson and one more grandchild on the way ) deeply and for them, he fought this treacherous virus hard, until the very last minute, wishing, hoping to be back together with his loved ones soon.  He didn't make it.

On Thursday, February 18, 2021, just shy of a month after he was hospitalized, Juan left to meet his maker.   His passing leaves behind a grieving family of very modest means who must now grapple with the sudden absence of their husband, father, bread-winner, handyman, practical joker, and all-around humble guy who liked doing everything by himself so that he didn't have to owe anyone favors.  In addition to the emotional punch in the gut, the family must also confront the high and immediate costs of Juan's burial services and other expenses.

Juan was a hard-working man who spent much of the past 17 years tending at a Pico Rivera carwash and doing other handy work that helped his family get by.   Like many men and women in our community employed conducting "essential" duties , Juan became one more casualty of the unfair social inequalities and randomness of this cruel pandemic.

Now with Juan's departure, the family needs a bit of a lift so that they can get through these most horrific moments of their lives.
