Juan is a loving Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, and Cheer Dad. He loves being around friends and family and our Cheer family even though at times he can be kind of quite but loves cooking and especially cooking for our cheer girls. He loves to go on little family trips and will do anything that makes our princess happy. He has been my back bone, and is the biggest help to me when it comes to taking care of MOM.
As you all already know Juan was diagnosed with a brain tumor in the Medulla part of his brain on 01/15/2019, little did we know how the visit on 01/13/2018 to the ER at UNC Chapel Hill would change our lives. He came in walking with little balance left, by the time we got MRI results on 01/15/2019 he was no longer able to walk, or swallow any food or liquids. His tumor was so big it was compressing on nerves and fivers that it paralyzed his left vocal cord and lost all feeling and control of his left side. A feed tube was temperately placed threw his nose to give him his nutrients, eventually was given a peg feed tube directly to his stomach as we didn't know the affect this surgery would have on him. Surgery was scheduled and performed on 01/24/2019 which was a 7 hour surgery. He was immediately sent ICU after surgery to start recovery. We were very happy and Thankful to see was able to move all his limbs. Unfortunately till today 02/08/2019 he is not able to walk on his own, or some days cant even sit up on his own. He has limited control over his left hand and leg, and still can not eat or drink. We are still waiting on pathology report as I was informed right after surgery that when they took a quick look at it in the lab it was high risk for Cancer. I had a hard time posting this as I was trying to tough things out on my own, and thinking recovery would be a breeze. That was me not wanting to accept reality. Now we ask for your help to cover Surgery, future treatment and other expenses since he's been out of work since Nov. 2018 when he first started to have signs of something going on, and I have been out of work for about a month now. I do try to do as much as I can for income, but having to be here full time with him has really hurt us financially. Thank you.
