Juan Morales kicking cancers ass!

Elyse, Juan’s daughter, here.

On Friday, April 14, my dad was having a rough day, not feeling well, with a low-grade fever. He and my mom began telling me about some symptoms. My dad had been feeling for a few months now. This included the fact that this week has been a particularly rough one. After being at my house all day, not feeling well. I knew that we needed to take him to the hospital. We took him in thinking that he possibly had an infection brewing somewhere. They ran numerous tests, but when his CT results came in, we could see on the doctors face that it wasn’t good news.

they found a tumor about the size of a grapefruit on my dad’s right kidney. They also believed it included the inferior vena cava. Which is the largest vein in our body. As soon as we left there, we knew we needed a higher level of care. We started telling our immediate family and packed up to head to Stanford.
Stanford found the tumor and officially diagnosed it as cancer. However, they also found that it was not tumor in the vena cava. It was a blood clot, although this was good news, they needed to treat the blood clot as soon as possible. My dad was admitted to the hospital and began care under urology, and oncology.

He was discharged Sunday night and currently we are awaiting the oncology plan. We know it will likely entail surgery and chemotherapy, however, we are unsure of the order at this time.

during this time, we will be doing a lot of traveling and staying in Stanford. Both my parents as well as I will be missing work. However, we know that Stanford will provide the best care for my dad, and that’s all we are willing to accept no matter the cost.

If you come, if you feel compelled to help, it would be greatly appreciated. We also could use all of your prayers. This is not going to be an easy journey, but, we are not going to give up.

if you know my dad, you know the kind, loving, funny man he is. The most amazing Husband, father, and Grandpa there is.

We have also set up a caring bridge to keep everyone up to date.

Thank you in advance
