Juan David's Path to healing

We're starting this fundraiser to help support our beloved Juan David. As most of you know, Juan David has had the most difficult week of his life. He has been a loving supportive member of the family who has been compassionate with all around him. Juan had been feeling very sick for a few months. After having visited the doctor with health concerns several times, he was not given a complete examination. His symptoms were red flag symptoms and in retrospect indicative of severe illness, but unfortunately was given steroids for inflammation and sent off. His health continued to decline and he had no idea why. His lymph nodes were swollen for months and he began to develop severe pain on his left shoulder. The fatigue and overall pain in his body was getting worse and worse. Enough was enough and he decided to see the doctor again.  Fortunately this time around, blood work was done and a thorough examination was conducted, however the news was not good. The diagnosis was lymphoma. More testing needed to be done and after several exams, doctors found several sacs of fluid surrounding his heart and lungs that needed to be drained immediately. Having just celebrated his 29th birthday on July 11th, all of this was unfolding very rapidly and unexpected. Due to the severity of the current Coronavirus pandemic in California and restrictions in hospital occupancy, Juan has had to receive all of this news by himself in the hospital with no family able to see him through and support him closely. In the past week he has had to not only process a cancer diagnosis but also undergo surgery to treat the fluid called a Pleural Effusion, which was strenuous on his heart and overall condition. The day of the surgery he was also told that his cancer was Hodgkins Lymphoma and that it was in stage 4 , chemotherapy needed to be started as soon as possible, as it was essential in keeping the fluid from coming back and filling these sacs. He has been heartbroken and scared and trying his best to cope in the small amount of time this has unfolded in.

Juan David has always been a very hard worker, putting in 6 to 7 days of work a week and endless hours during the day. He works in the field of pool maintenance. Currently, he is unable to work given his situation and not much prospects of going back to work, as it seems he might have developed some of this through long term exposure to chemicals he has used in his line of work. This puts a strain on basic daily living expenses. He is heartbroken at the thought of losing his ability to work and all of the effort he has put into his skill.  As a family we want to help ease his pain and worry. Right now he has to fight for his life, as friends and family we want to lessen his burden by helping him with anything that might relieve his stress. Being the hard worker that he is and his commitment to salvage what he has worked so hard to gain, he has a few ideas of how he can turn his work around and earn a living. We can help him get through these months and any little bit helps. We are very appreciative of any help and he is eternally grateful for all of the love he has received through all of this.

Positive words and prayers, energy of love, peace and healing will be greatly appreciated and if you can, any monetary donations however big or small will also help him get through these tough times ahead.  Any love and support that you can provide will help him get through.

Our plan is to post updates on this platform and continue to share Juan's story.

Much love to everyone.
