On Saturday, December 15, Juan took an unusual hit to the abdomen during a tackle in the Big River Rivalry game (which is a game of select High School Seniors from the Greater Richmond area of schools North of the James vs schools from the South of the James) which is an annual charity game raising money for the Children's Hospital of Richmond. Due to increasing pain by halftime, Juan was taken to the emergency room at for evaluation and was found to have internal bleeding from a liver laceration.
Regenia took Juan to the closest hospital which was in Hanover, and after evaluation, imaging and diagnosis they then transferred him via ambulance to a hospital closer to home. Juan has spent the past 5 days in the ICU. He has has a few complications from requiring a drainage tube needing to be placed to infection.
Juan's parents have been by his side every day through this scary time, especially mom who is self-employed. So this naturally is also affecting their regular household income. The family expects the out of pocket of this hospital stay to be 20% of the bill. Of course, at this time there is no way to know what this bill will look like but expect it to be significant since he has had 2 surgical procedures, 5 days in ICU care and looking at in total approximately 10 days hospitalized.
Please help us offset some of this unexpected medical bill.
The family also wants to send out their Thanks to everyone who has visited, called to check on Juan, and for all your prayers!
