Hi, my name is Erin. My partner Jason was recently diagnosed with a very aggressive and rare form of cancer called anaplastic thyroid carcinoma.

The medical team at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Calgary wants to act quickly in order to try and control this rapidly growing cancer. Unfortunately, surgery is not possible because the mass is located near major blood vessels and arteries. Starting next week, Jason will begin an intensive six-week course of chemotherapy and radiation in Calgary.

Because of this sudden diagnosis, Jason is unable to work. As a subcontractor, he does not have employment insurance or a steady income, which is creating significant financial hardship during an already overwhelming time.

The costs associated with treatment are adding up quickly, including monthly bills, travel and transportation to Calgary, medications, food, and accommodations while he undergoes life-saving treatment.
