Casey's Top Surgery

Hello! My name is Casey (she/they), and I'm getting top surgery! (*excited clapping*)

Top surgery (bilateral mastectomy) has been something I have dreamt of for a long time, and it is finally within reach! My surgery date is June 23rd, 2022, with Dr. Gallagher in Miami, Florida. This is a huge step for me to become more at home in my body. Dr. Gallagher is a well-respected surgeon in the field of gender affirmation surgery, and I am fortunate to work with such an experienced doctor who is pioneering important new techniques.

For as long as I can remember, I have had difficulty accepting the more feminine aspects of my body. They have never felt like they were a part of me. Because of my body dysphoria, I have bound, taped, and restrained my chest in an attempt to create a flatter, more masculine look since I was a teenager. Over time, doing these things has worn on my body and has caused rib and back pain. Dealing with dysphoria has been deeply psychologically exhausting as well. After years of struggling with my reflection not matching who I am inside, I am ready and able to make a change. I am thrilled at the chance to live a life with a body I feel is truly mine.

Unfortunately, getting top surgery is extremely costly and financially draining. Therefore, all donations raised from this account will go towards the surgery cost ($11,400) and the medications needed for my recovery. After many phone calls with insurance representatives, I am hopeful that my insurance will cover some cost of the surgery (cross your fingers!).
