Good Samaritan hit by drunk driver

2020 has changed several lives in a blink of an eye. Some more then others. My family has never posted personal matters, or asked for contributions or assistance of any kind. However, this is a very serious matter. We really need prayers for my son and his entire family. My son is a truck driver. On Sunday morning June 14th at 2:45 am he was driving his truck on I20 in Atlanta Georgia and the vehicle in front of him lost control of their car and swerved. They crashed into the guardrails. My son stopped his truck, called 911 and got out to help. As he was trying to get the man out of his vehicle, a drunk driver, driving a uhaul truck with a suspended license hit him on his right side. The impact sent him airborne and he landed in the grass on the other side of guardrails. I can't even imagine the pain he must have felt. As you are reading this, he is in the hospital fighting for his life. He has brain bleeding, fractures in his lower back/tailbone, fractured ribs, broken arm, broken neck, collapsed lungs and several other injuries. If....... NO.....WHEN he recovers, he will be left with lifelong disabilities. Currently, He is In a sleep induced coma and the ventilator is breathing for him. The hope is that they can gradually wake him up and get him off the ventilator. At this time, we do not know what condition he will be in when he does wake up. I do know he will not ever be able to drive a truck again and possibly not work at all. Our prayer and hope is that he will remember us and be able to live a full life. Our family believes in the power of prayer and that God can heal him. So first, please say prayers for my son, my life. This has put a burden on our family, Both emotionally and financially. I live in TX and I need to be close to him and here for him when he wakes up. With God all things are possible." I did not know what amount to put as far as a goal. I just know that we need help. God will decide how much I need. We want to get him closer to home when he is safe to be moved. I'm pretty sure that is not going to happen as I hear it's extremely expensive. So, I will be here in GA, somewhere, until he is recovered enough that I can drive him home. I am holding on to that hope with all my heart and with your prayers and help, that day will come.

I have one more thing that I feel I need to say and I would like anyone and everyone to repost this story. DRUNK DRIVERS, or ANYONE who has been drinking, please, please stay off the roads when you have been drinking. It isn't your loved one that is fighting for their life, but it could have been. My heart hurts, its as broken as my son is.

Please keep my son, Robert Thompson in your prayers. Any amount received will be greatly appreciated and used wisely. Thank you so much.
