Chloe Chenoweth is 23 years old and was born with Cystic Fibrosis which is an inherited terminal lung disorder.
Chloe lives in Whyalla S.A and attends the Royal Adelaide Hospital for Clinic every six weeks.
Her daily routine consists of multiple different medications and Physiotherapy on her lungs to keep them functioning, so that she can stay as healthy as possible.
Since birth, Chloe has often been admitted into hospital to fight off infections and to help maintain lung capacity.
Despite this, Chloe has always been a happy, cheerful person with a bright loving personality.
One of Chloe's true loves is racing Dirt Circuit. This is often difficult for her to do, although when you see the smile on her face at the end of the day, you know she loved every minute of it.
This terrible disease has deteriorated to the end stage where she now requires a Double Lung Transplant. Without this, the time we get to spend with Chloe is very limited.
This major operation will take place in Melbourne at The Alfred Hospital.
Both Chloe and her Mum (Wendy) will receive a phone call from the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne when a compatible set of lungs becomes available. They will be given short notice and be flown straight to Melbourne by the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Wendy will be Chloe's carer and support system for the 3+months that is required for Chloe to recover after the transplant.
For the first few weeks, Chloe will be in the Intensive Care Unit where she will given special Anti rejection medication and recovering from the operation.
Wendy will be staying in nearby accommodation which when Chloe is ready (approx 3-4 weeks) will be discharged into Wendy's care.
As you all can imagine, this is a very stressful time for Chloe and her family members. Given that Chloe will be so far away from all of her family support; It would be extra special if we could help get them over to see her, when she needs them the most.
Thankfully the operation is paid for by the Government and the Patient Assistance Transport Scheme (PATS) contibute a percentage towards the accommodation costs.
However this still leaves a lots of hidden costs such as:
*Remaining Accommodation costs
*Daily meals
*Toiletries
*Extra phone costs / Internet
*Flights to and from Melbourne for immediate family members.
*Accommodation in Melbourne for Immediate family members.
*Chloe and her family members have their own houses, bills, rent, pets and costs associated with daily living.
We are asking anyone who is willing to donate even a few dollars towards this, it would be greatly appreciated.
We would like to thank you for taking the time to read about Chloe.
If You have any questions, please feel free to contact me or Chloe
Kind Regards
Leanne Dix
