Hi, my name is Helena. My kitty cat, Louie, recently was diagnosed with FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis). I got Louie when he was 6 weeks old from a woman in San Francisco, who found Louie and his siblings on the streets. Louie has always been a feisty boy, and he loves to play. Louie is now 20 months old (still just a baby!) and was completely normal and healthy one minute, and then overnight he suddenly became very ill. I immediately rushed him to the ER, where they had to hospitalize him for 3 days and 2 nights. The vet told me FIP has a 100% mortality rate, and no treatment. Although, I found a treatment, that has yet to be approved, that has an 80% success rate! The only problem is, it is very expensive, and I still need to find the funds to pay his hospital bills ( 6 grand :0). I am in graduate school right now and unfortunately am not making any money. In just a few months I will graduate and will be able to afford more for him, but he cannot wait till then. He has been home for a few days and I can see his health rapidly declining, he is lethargic and won't eat anything. I love Louie so much I can't imagine life without him. I feel so awful I wish I could have protected him from this. The vets say he may have had FIP since he was a baby, but it never 'came out' till now. I heard that it is common for stray cats to get it. Any support you can give, even if its just a dollar, will help Louie <3
