Donation protected
Please help us stop the clear-cutting of thousands of acres of forest in the Airfield area of Sussex County, just outside Wakefield. Specifically (according to a previously filed conditional use permit application) , the Blackwater Solar Project would encompass approximately 9,000 acres of land with nearly 5,000 acres under solar panels. This particular project would be very disruptive to this ecologically important area of our county, and it is in complete contradiction to the county's comprehensive plan. Portions of the proposed project are adjacent to the Big Woods Wildlife Management Area, the Big Woods State Forest, and the Airfield 4H Center. We need your support to purchase signs and cover expenses related to fighting this project.
Solar projects such as this bring very few permanent jobs (approx. 8), disrupt wildlife, and damage the environment. Sussex County has become a bullseye for these projects--there are many in the works. Please help us put the brakes on this by making a contribution to Stop Sussex Solar.
