Help Sherry Get Her Life Saving Whipple Surgery
Donation protected
It is long overdue for an update. Over the past 16 months Sherry has fought hard in her battle against pancreatic cancer. She has gone through almost a year of chemo therapy treatments with infusion and started 6 weeks of radiation shortly after. Her cancer had gone from 4.2cm to 1.9cm after radiation ended April 19th. With this progress came news that she is now a candidate for the whipple surgery involving artery reconstruction at the Mayo clinic in Minnesota. It is important that she has this surgery asap due to the aggressive nature of her type of cancer. In June she had a PET scan followed by a CT a week later showing that the cancer has grown to 2.3cm.
Before she can have her surgery Sherry must fly out to Minnesota on the 24th of July until the 28th to speak with the doctor that specializes in whipple with artery reconstruction and have tests done by their clinic before they can perform the surgery. With such little time to raise funds for plane tickets, hotel stays, rental car, gas, food etc, her family could really use any help given. After testing she will be flying back home and has to wait for a date for her surgery and will have to fly back out right away to have the surgery performed. She will then have to stay for 1 to 2 weeks before she can fly back home and will take 2 to 3 months to recover as they will be removing her entire gallbladder along with part of her pancreas, stomach, intestines and artery that is to be reconstructed. This has been an extremely scary and stressful time for her and her family. Any help is extremely appreciated.
End of update.
Sherry's world was turned upside down when she went to see her doctor for a stomach ache and sharp pains in her back, after many scans and a biopsy on a mass that was found on her pancreas, Sherry was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Sherry and her family weren’t financially prepared for the cancer treatment costs they’d encounter at every turn, and soon realized they needed extra help. She started her first of many rounds of chemo this week in hope that it will shrink the tumor which has wrapped around a main vein in her spine and spread to her stomach. They have her on chemotherapy and immunotherapy to help her fight her cancer, she has also changed her diet to help strengthen her immune system during her treatments.
She never asks anyone for help but would give the shirt off her back to help anyone in need. Any donation would be greatly appreciated during these hard times. I'm doing this go fund me for my sister and her family to help with out of pocket expenses.
Thank you and God bless ❤
