I am reaching out on behalf of my brother Chris.
Our 13 year old niece Savannah was at home when she started to not feel good. The right side of her body went numb and she collapsed and didn't regain consciousness.  She was rushed to the hospital and we found out she had a stroke caused by AVM that is in her brain.  AVM is Arteriovenous malformation. It consists of a tangle of abnormal blood vessels connecting arteries and veins in the brain. Arteries carry oxygen rich blood from the heart to the brain. Veins carry deoxygenated blood back to the heart and lungs. A brain AVM stops this process from happening.  While in the hospital she was intubated and they immediately began working on getting the bleeding on her brain to stop and the swelling down.  They were able to get the bleeding to stop and eventually take the breathing tube out.  She is unable to move her right arm and right leg from this. The doctors needed to do another procedure to remove the brain AVM but wanted to give her brain a rest and to start rehabilitation right away. She was transferred to a higher level of care hospital that has neurology specialties.  Once arriving to this new facility, on May 23rd the new doctors who saw her said that her brain surgery could not wait and they found that she was still bleeding on her brain. They decided to operate right away with the first surgery going in to stop the bleed and the second one called a  craniotomy. This procedure cuts into the skull so they can get access to the AVM and completely remove it.

My brother is divorced and does not live in the same state as his daughter. He had to pick up and leave his home and will stay with her until she gets better. The doctors say she has a long road to recovery. Medical costs add up very quickly and also unexpected living costs and night to night hotel stays. He is a retired veteran and wounded warrior living on a fixed income.  We are asking  for your prayers and any help to alleviate this heavy financial burden on his family.
