Dear friends, colleagues, collaborators, listeners, and community,
Over the last six years in Berlin, I have lived in more than fifteen different apartments.
I have moved between sublets, shared flats, temporary housing arrangements, and short-term solutions while building a life as an independent artist, researcher, educator, and community organiser.
This constant movement has become a defining & destabilizing feature of my life in Berlin. While I have been fortunate to continue making work, touring, teaching, recording, and collaborating, housing instability has created an ongoing undercurrent of uncertainty that has profoundly shaped how I am able live and work. And the gig economy just can't financially support this transition.
For the first time in many years, I have found a stable place to call home.
The challenge is that I need support to secure it.
I am raising €5,000 to cover the costs associated with moving into and establishing a sustainable home:
• €2,100 housing deposit (three months' rent)
• home-making essentials including a bed, table, rug, chair, bedding, shelving, lights, kitchen basics, and furniture
• moving, cleaning, painting, and installation costs
• legal expenses incurred during my residence permit renewal process
Last year, I attempted to relocate back to South Africa. When that transition did not materialise, I found myself rebuilding my life in Berlin with very limited resources. Since then, I have continued working intensely across film scoring, installation work, teaching, performing, activating my album and administration pertaining residence permit renewal. This has led to sleepless nights, disregulated nervous system and severe burn out, to say the least.
The truth is that I am deeply tired, and living in the context of gig economy has been incredibly hard.
The past few years have required extraordinary resilience, and I have reached a point where I need to create conditions that support not only survival, but recovery and sustainability.
For the month of July, I hope to focus on something I have not experienced in a long time:
the process of making a home.
A place to rest, recover and regenerate
A place to work.
A place to create.
A place from which I can continue contributing to the communities and practices that have shaped my life.
If my music, performances, workshops, research, teachings, collaborations, or conversations have touched your life in any way, I would be incredibly grateful for your support.
Every contribution, regardless of size, helps.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your networks would mean just as much.

Thank you for helping me create a stable home after many years of living in transit.
With love and gratitude,
