Estela's ICU Hospital Fund
Donation protected
The story of my mom is one where anyone would touch one's heart.
I live in Scarborough and my mother came here to Canada as a tourist from the Philippines as she had wanted to take care of my daughter.
One day, my mother suddenly became unconscious as her sugar went up. We had to rush her to the hospital and unfortunately my mother had to experience five cardiac arrests, the night she was admitted (December 15, 2015). The findings were that my mother was suffering from Diabetic Ketoacidosis, also known as 'DKA.' My mom is currently fighting for her life in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Scarborough General Hospital.
Given her status as a tourist, unfortunately, this is something that is not covered within my benefits from work or government health benefits. And I do not have the kind of funds to pay the upcoming Hospital bill.
Because of the number of cardiac arrests, we are still unaware of the further damages to the other main organs. It was suggested that a by-pass surgery may be required down the road but for now we are focussing on saving her life.
We ask and beg for any donations to go towards the upcoming Hospital Bill. We anticipate the Hospital Bill as soon as my mother is out of danger/ICU and we are praying very hard that this will happen very soon.
My mother has always been there for me, during my happiness and downfall. Along with my father, I also have four other siblings and five nieces/nephews in the Philippines, who are all still waiting for the return of our beloved mother. My mother has always been responsible for placing the smiles on the faces of her family and this is why it is very important that she survives this trial. My two year old daughter is also looking for her everyday and I am just hoping that one day that I can tell her that, "Mama is on her way back home."
From the very bottom my heart, my family and I thank and appreciate all those who have already donated and for those about to donate, as these funds will go a long way for us.
We will post updates from time to time as we hear news from the doctors.
Thank you,
Liza
