"Going under for Glaucoma surgery! On my only good eye! I wish I could say that after I come back, I will have a new re-created, re-engineered eye that will give me sight which I could never imagine. Unfortunately this is only to try to save the little vision I have left. The technology just doesn’t exist yet, I guess.
I laugh with my Doctor all the time, If only he would spend a little less time on his Yacht and more on growing me a new eye. ☺ Alas no results. Dr. Arleo is the BEST. I have been seeing him since I came to the states 22 years ago when I was 9 with glaucoma and cataracts; he was the one that diagnosed me originally and managed to keep my vision going for this long. He even made it the best it has ever been my whole life throughout my 20s.
My family and I were hoping that my vision would last for years to come, as it has been, very steady. Nevertheless right for the holidays my eye pressure skyrockets. After using every drop that is available to keep the pressure in check showed no effect, surgery is my only option. No matter what the outcome will be it will be a difficult road ahead.
With two young boys, Jayden 3yr, Lucas just only 2months old and my loving wife of 10 years I cannot let the fear and despair to drift me into darkness. I have no illusions of the hard times ahead, financially, physically and emotionally. That is why I am so thankful for what we have and I pray that we as a family learn and adapt to this new life of me, Peter Zarubin now VISUALLY IMPARED from Glaucoma."
