Meet Sherbert, a five-year-old Anglo-Nubian. He arrived at the Sanctuary about three and a half years ago. A larger-than-life character bursting with energy and personality, he is well loved by all, especially his pen mate, Carl.
Unfortunately, Sherbert recently sustained a dislocated hip. This was treated by our vets, however, due to the complexities of the injury, it re-dislocated the following day. As a last resort, and in attempt to provide Sherbert with a quality of life, our vets will attempt a ‘Hip Toggle’ procedure, where they use some suture material to stabilise the hip joint. This is a well-established procedure used with dogs and has been known to be effective in some cases with Horses and ponies, but to our vets’ this would be their first case attempting this type of procedure on a goat. Sherbert is still so full of life, so we wanted to do everything we can to give him a second chance.
We have been quoted £3700 (this includes a hefty discount), for the surgery, and as you may be aware, we have already had a few exceptional medical cases over the past year. We are kindly asking for donations toward Sherbert’s treatment. We are aware of the increased cost of living, however anything you are willing to contribute, no matter how big or small, is greatly appreciated.
