J.R.'s Eye Surgery

Donation protected
J.R. has keratoconus. Kerstoconus is a condition in which the clear tissue on the front of the eye (cornea) bulges outward. He had a Bowmen layer partial cornea transplant on his left eye about a year and a half ago that has left a permanent haze in his vision. The original plan was for him to have it done on both eyes but they will not do it on his right eye because of the haze on the left eye. So his right eye has continuously gotten worse. The doctor told him the only option he has to prevent his right eye cornea from coning and potential blindness is Corneal cross-linking. His insurance does not cover it nor do we qualify for assistance. Normally we would just save up the money and get it done when we had all the money. But he is at the threshold of not being able to get it. In medical terms he is a 399 out of 550 microns thickness of the cornea. They will not do the surgery once his cornea reaches 395 microns. So we are in a time crunch to get the money. He is scheduled to have the procedure done on April 5th. The procedure is $4,500. We are hoping to raise around $2500. We would appreciate all the thoughts and prayers you guys can send his way. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
