UPDATE
Update about Shiki.
Shiki is being well cared for at the hospital in Koh Samui. The MRI confirmed he suffered an ischemic stroke and temporarily lost his speech. Further scans showed blockage and narrowing in an artery supplying the left side of his brain, causing several strokes.
After careful evaluation, the specialists decided that surgery or stenting would currently be too risky, so he is now being closely monitored and treated with medication to help prevent another stroke.
He is also dealing with a serious facial infection related to previous surgeries and is receiving IV antibiotics.
Thankfully, his speech has returned almost completely to normal, and he is feeling very positive and grateful that things were not worse. This experience has been a major wake-up call, and will be making important lifestyle changes and focusing fully on recovery.
There is still a long road ahead with treatment, rehabilitation, and likely daily assistance for the coming months.
Thank you all so much for the love, support, donations, and prayers ❤️
———————————————————————
Our beloved Shiki, known to many around the world as DJ Chicago from 1200 Micrograms, has recently suffered a stroke.
Just two weeks after celebrating his 80th birthday, someone who has spent decades bringing joy, music, laughter, and connection to thousands of people is now facing a difficult health challenge.
He currently stable and okay but awaiting further test results. Over the past weeks, he has also undergone two operations where he was heavily sedated and under a large amount of medication, which has made this whole situation even more difficult physically and mentally.
Shiki chose a humble life. He lives simply in a small bungalow on the beach in Koh Phangan, surrounded by nature, music, friends, and the local children who lovingly call him “Sabba Shiki.” He does not have health insurance, and the medical expenses are already becoming overwhelming.
The facilities in Koh Phangan are unfortunately not sufficient for the level of neurological care he now requires, and we are currently trying to move him to a better hospital in Koh Samui as quickly as possible.
Shiki will now need ongoing medical treatment, rehabilitation, and long term support moving forward. Anyone who knows him knows his heart. He is the favorite uncle, grandfather figure, storyteller, and smiling presence.
If Shiki’s music, kindness, wisdom, laughter, or spirit has ever touched your life, we ask you to help in any way you can:
• Donate whatever feels possible
• Share this campaign with the global trance family
• Send prayers, healing energy, and love
Every contribution, no matter the amount, truly makes a difference right now.
With love and gratitude,
His family and friends from Koh Phangan
