Hi all, we've been a bit quiet recently, as after my son Jamie Rose's funeral, we were all completely emotionally drained and are still greiving the devestating loss. However, we are back on the fundraising trail as we still need to raise the funds to pay the final costs of the funeral etc. We will also look to take Jamie's ashes to Glastonury to be scattered at a place of spiritual significance.
If you have already donated, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity. For those who haven't who said they would kindly donate, we do still deperately need to raise the rest of the funds so we would be exceptionally grateful for any small sum you are able to offer.
Also, I would be very grateful if you could share our appeal far and wide, as we really want to put Jamie to rest as soon as possible.
Thank you so much in advance.
With love,
Sue

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jamie Rose, who died after suffering from increasingly failing health. He was 51 years old
Jamie was well known in the local area. He played guitar on the streets to try to make people happy. He worked in the Mind shop also.
Jamie had been suffering from a bad infection since June 2023, from which he eventually, sadly succumbed.
He encountered many traumas in his life. But all he wanted to do is to share love and happiness. He was a very humble man. He would not always take compliments easily.
And here's the bit where we come 'cap in hand,' to ask for your support in helping Jamie to get the best send off. He did so much for others and never asked for anything himself. He never would.
He had little money and his family are launching this Gofundme campaign to help raise funds for his funeral..
We want to give Jamie the best send off. Around £5k is needed to cover basic funeral costs Anything, over and above, we will be able to have a wake, to share memories of Jamie and to celebrate his life.
Any excess monies raised above this will go toward providing support for the family, and a percentage of any excess will go to Jamie's favourite charities -Mind, Warming up the Homeless and Pit Stop.
We thank you for reading this heartfelt campaign, and sincerely hope you are able to help us - either by donating, or sharing Jamie's story far and wide.
Let's show Jamie the love in death that he had for everyone in life.

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jamie Rose, who died after suffering from increasingly failing health. He was 51 years old
You may well know Jamie, or know of him. Perhaps you saw him performing on his guitar. He didn't ask for any money, he simply wished to brighten the day of the good people of Hastings, Bexhill and St Leonards.
Perhaps you know him from his work at the Mind charity shop that he so enjoyed volunteering at. Again, he was passionate about helping other people less fortunate than himself.
At 5 years old, His father died. Jamie was present at the time and also when the doctor had confirmed the unthinkable - his father had passed on. Clearly the loss of his father had a traumatic effect, that he worked hard to come to terms with.
There was another occasion - Jamie was 8 years old. We were walking down a street in Deptford London -When he asked: "Why are those men sitting on the steps of that old Cinema Ma?"
I replied: "They are possibly drinking, son." He then asked. "What are they drinking?"
"Possibly alcohol. " He said: "Why are they doing that?"
"They may be homeless".
He then replied. "Oh. Can we go and help them?"
This is the path in life he took. Always wanting to help people
At 9 years old. We had a house fire. It was terrible - we lost 90 percent of our belongings, and the lovely house we had moved into. He couldn't talk about this until he was 23.
He was quite a shy child. So these traumatic events affected him profoundly.
At 10 years old. He was writing computer programmes.
His grandad died, who he adored, when he was nearly 13 years old.
At 18 years old. He discovered he was going to be a father. He thought to himself; "Right! I must get a better job so I can provide support for the baby.
There were fleeting moments of happiness - the birth of his Son, Daniel, was one of these moments.
Then inevitably, things went wrong.
When the mother left him, he continued as a courier for another few years. He loved motorbikes, particularly the classics. He was quite comfortable in maintaining his bike - ensuring it was in the best possible condition to ride and would often completely strip down and reassemble.
Jamie loved music, it goes without saying from Pink Floyd to Amy Winehouse and all in between. He loved to read. He loved art.
Another little story about him.
When he was in his early 20s. He had to get on a bus. Dressed in full leathers. He had long hair.
An old lady was running for the bus. She fell by the doors. The bus driver. Shut the doors and went to drive off. Jamie had been sitting at the back. When he jumped up and said to the driver; "Open the doors! Can't you see that poor lady has fallen?" The driver opened the doors. Jamie helped the lady onto the bus and made sure she was ok.
He then turned to the other passengers, who did nothing to help the old lady; "You all look at me, How I am dressed - Which one of you got up to help that poor lady?"
He knew what was right, fair and just. He turned to the driver and snapped at him - "You should be ashamed of yourself - you were going to drive off without a thought for that poor lady."
As I said, he had a very strong sense of what is right.
In his 20s, he lost his best friend . His friend had a balance problem. He was on a train platform when he bent down. To do his laces up. Lost balance and fell under a moving train.
Also, when he was in his 20s. He and 3 friends were in France, sharing two bikes.
They were driving along peacefully when his friends in front had a bad accident.
Jamie held the one friend who was not bleeding. Or so they thought. His friend unfortunately had serious internal injuries, which were not discovered at the time, but he had internal bleeding. He was paralysed for a while. Luckily enough they all survived.
From then on. His mental health deteriorated..
He had a few problematic years. Then he moved to Bexhill.
He had taught himself to play the guitar when he was in his 20s, and would play his guitar in Bexhill, Hastings, St Leonards, Bath, Wells. Or wherever his feet took him. To cheer people up and make them happy. He wanted to spread love around the world. X
He was extremely intelligent. Whether it was quantum physics, geography, history or many other subjects. His brain was amazing.
He was frustrated, because of his mental health, At times. He got into a very deep depression. He couldn't follow the path he once might have done. I suspect that had he not had this series of events that weighed strong on his mind, he may well have done, and been successful in it as well.
For a while he volunteered at the Mind charity shop in Bexhill. However, he had to leave. due to a severely arthritic knee.
He was helping a homeless person one night. it was dark, and the gloom he didn't notice there was an open drain in front of him and he fell down it. He banged his knee on every rung going down. Doctors kept saying he was too young to operate.
Hence, he had another fall. In June 23. He suffered with health problems subsequent to this fall, of which the symptoms got worse from there. He had a really bad ongoing infection in his left arm, which he had to dress daily. His right wrist was fractured, so he couldn't write or play his guitar properly. That always helped his mental health. So, as you can imagine, this helped greatly to quell his mood, but he was unable to do it.
He lost his flat. He had a new landlord who bought the flat Jamie lived in. The landlord renovated the flat, making it unsafe for Jamie to live in. At this point Jamie was staying with me until the work was done. But on returning to his flat to see renovations, the new landlord had constructed a bathroom at the top of a steep flight of stairs. If you came out of the bathroom with wet feet, or quickly, you could fall down the steep stairs and hit the front door. Jamie could clearly no longer live in the flat he had been in for 13 years.
This depressed him enormously. The landlord raised the rent, then issued a section 21 notice, so then he was homeless again.
Luckily, he was staying with me after his fall, and while work was done. Adult Social Care were trying to find him a flat and organise carers. But nothing happened. Only empty promises. He had to learn to walk again. Because in his last fall. Along with the fractured wrist. He had fractured his pubic rami. Part of his hip.
This led to a bad infection which stayed with him and this suffering got more profound over time.
On a few occasions, he would get talking to a homeless person. On occasion, he would take them back to his flat, and then cook dinner for them.
Once sated, he would show them where the shower was and put cushions down where the grateful invitee could rest. He only had a small studio type flat, he didn't have much money, but he cared deeply, and did what he could
People have made so many comments on Facebook, saying he was a "Beautiful Soul," "Kind" and "Polite."
Jamie loved every living thing. Humans, animals, birds, flora and fauna. Trees. Literally everything.
Most recently, last May, his cat, who adopted him, was very sick and he tried to give her the kiss of life. But to no avail. He said, if I had become a vet. I might have been able to save her. He always wanted to be a vet.
He used to go to Glastonbury. Not the festival, But the spiritual meaning of Glastonbury.
He was a Pagan, A Spiritualist. He followed Buddhism, Hinduism and some Christianity. He studied them all and like a magpie, squirrelled away what would form the foundation of who he was as a person
He would meditate. Do Yoga, or stretches as he would say. He had many crystals that all represent certain things. .
He encountered many traumas in his life. But all he wanted to do. Is to share love and happiness.
He was a very humble man. He would not always take compliments easy.
This is who Jamie was.
