My name is Tyson, on Friday June 23 my 9 year old son was in a terrible motorcycle accident. Due to legal reasons I can't discuss specifics but what I can say is what happened to cause the crash and what was said and happened after the crash by the parties involved would make the blood of any parent boil.
My son suffered a broken leg/hip fracture, bruised kidney that caused heavy blood in his urine for days, and other assorted cuts, scrapes, and bruises. He was sent to Children's Hospital in Aurora for surgery as the on call surgeons at MCR were uncomfortable with the complexity of the surgery. The surgery went well and he spent a couple days in the hospital but is home now.
However, this is just the beginning for him. Due to the nature and location of the break, there is about a 40% chance of permanent damage to the blood vessels that supply the bones with blood to help them grow. Unfortunately, this is something that can only be watched over time as there is not a way to go in and look at the vessels without a very invasive surgery. Best case scenario, they repair themselves and he's fine, kinda worst case scenario he needs a hip replacement by 15. The doctors are also saying that physical sports are a thing of the past for him. The location of the break and at his age, the bones will always be on the weaker side and it won't take much to break them again which will require more surgery or even more and worse permanent disability.
Throughout this whole process, it's gotten very expensive very quickly for us. We have medical insurance but that only covers so much and there will be an upcoming insurance/legal case against the party responsible but that can be months or even years until anything happens with that. With being in the hospital and now he will require non stop constant care for the foreseeable future until he's healed a little more, we have not been able to work much, our savings have quickly drained, bills piling up, and still more medical costs incoming, it has put us in a jam to say the very least. We have always went out of our way to help others, we are just hoping that others can help us in our time of need. Thank you.
