Robs Road to Recovery

Donation protected
On January 26 Rob had to have surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from his colon at upstate hospital. Upon waking up from surgery it was found that he had a blood clot in his right leg. In order to save his leg from being amputated because of the swelling and the pressure, the doctors had to do an emergency surgery where they cut both sides of his leg open to relieve the swelling. He spent two weeks in the hospital and during that time he became weak, contracted covid, and lost over 20 pounds. Upon discharge from the hospital he continues to need home care that resulted in physical therapy, a wound VAC device on his leg and more. So far he will need skin grafting surgery where they take skin from other parts of his body in order to close up the leg. This is still not scheduled at this time. He will also need another surgery on his abdomen in order to close the part that they left open and chemotherapy within the next four months. He will be out of work for an unknown amount of time.  The rising hospital bills and home care bills are nothing like we anticipated they would be, and are already becoming a hardship. While insurance covers some, the copays of the home care and device fees are hundreds of dollars a day.

What was supposed to be a short hospital visit following surgery, turned into a nightmare for Rob and his family. With all the stress he is under already, we’re hoping to at least provide him with some financial support so he doesn’t not become overwhelmed with the bills.
