Hi everyone! My name is Anna Curby and I am a sophomore Animal Science/pre-vet major at Abilene Christian University. Ever since I can remember, I have had a passion to go to Africa. While many people dream of traveling and seeing the sights of places like Europe, I have always been infatuated with the beauty found within Africa, whether it be the incredible creatures we only see in zoos or on tv here, or the various cultures of the people there. And now, thanks to my academic department at ACU, I have the wonderful opportunity to travel to Zambia this summer of 2015 to not only be an advocate of Christ, but to learn both academically and from the people we will be working with. We will be leaving for Zambia on May 12th and leaving on June 3rd, almost an entire month in Africa! My excitement grew even more when I heard that our potential host is a veterinarian, and to hopefully be able to shadow him and watch him practice would be an incredible learning experience for me. This opportunity could not come at a better time as my studies to become a veterinarian will grow increasingly more stressful and time consuming with each passing semester. However, being a college student at a school with costly tuition makes paying for this trip that much more challenging. Aside from airfare cost, other costs such as necessary immunizations and in-country travel puts the total cost at a little above $3,000. I am very passionate about working hard to get myself to where I want to be, and I am praying for everyone's heart as they read this that they realize they would not only be helping me live a dream, but serving a God who calls us to venture out into the parts of the world that do not know his great name. If money is not what you are able to give, I ask that you please pray for myself and others as we work hard to reach our goals, and for safety and guidance as the time grows closer. Thank you all, and God bless!
