Fighting URGENT Eviction!!!
Donation protected
Hello All,
I reach out today with a heavy heart full of rage and humility at my present situation.
I am fighting eviction as I have been for the last year and a half and the City Marshal will be knocking on my door Friday morning to evict me.
What Brought Me Here:
- After law school (August 2017), I worked low-paying, odd jobs until finding my present position in January 2019, and during that time, bills piled up astronomically.
- The assistance organization I had been working with dropped me as a client recently during a change of management and refused to honor an agreement to Housing Court to pay $3,734.10 to pay off my rent arrears knowing that I was in eviction proceedings; they refuse to put their negation in writing.
- My landlord refuses to take money I offer and also refuses to agree to any sort of payment plan agreement.
- Housing Court has denied my Order to Show Cause (an extension for more time) because they will not accept anything less than the full amount by Friday; throughout this whole process, I have been refused a lawyer for varying reasons.
- I have called every charitable/ philanthropic organization I could find, including HRA (colloquially, Welfare), to seek assistance, but to no avail. {Potential support coming from the Bridge Fund and Xavier Mission}
So Now What?
- I have put all of my limited savings and recent paychecks towards bringing the balance down but I am still short.
- I am planning emergency living arrangements if I cannot meet the deadline.
- My ask:
1) Please donate if you can; anything helps.
2) Please share widely to your networks.
3) Please give me a long hug if you'll see me or schedule time to give me one if you won't.
4) Please shoot me a text to ask if I'm alright.
