Buffalo, NY native Jeramy Carroll is a kind, giving, faithful and inspirational person in our community. Many may recognize Jeramy from his various music endeavors especially his current role with PastMasters , Buffalo's premier Beatles Tribute Band. He along with his band mates bring joy and happiness to all who listen but that is not all he does to bring joy his community. He has played multiple benefits to help others in need, has worked in child/afterschool care teaching and spread joy to the future generations of children, is the worship leader at his local church and helps with their music program during Vacation Bible School. Now Jeramy and his family is in need of our help.
On December 7th, 2020, Buffalo, NY native, Jeramy Carrol, a well-loved husband/father/son/brother/uncle/bandmate/friend was suddenly struck by illness.
On the afternoon of December 7th, Jeramy was driving home when he suddenly lost sight in his right eye not long after he began to lose feeling on the entire left side of his body. With the help of God, he was able to safely make it home to his loving wife Laura. Laura quickly recognized the severity of the situation and rushed him Kenmore Mercy Hospital. At the hospital they ran various tests and had concluded that Jeremy has suffered a stroke. The doctor’s at Kenmore Mercy decided the best option for treatment was to send Jeramy to South Buffalo Mercy. Here, he spent 3 days in the ICU where doctors worked to stabilize his symptoms and figure out the exact cause of Jeramy’s stroke. They learned that they stroke was cause by a right carotid dissection.
A carotid dissection is a tear in the inner layer of the wall of a carotid artery, these tears occur when the layers of the carotid artery spontaneously separate. This condition can potentially compromise blood flow to certain areas of the brain and can lead to a stroke. In some cases, the piece of the artery will detach from the wall and move through the blood vessels worsening the problem. This is what happened to Jeramy; the piece that broke off caused a blockage in his brain on his right side.
After spending three days in the Neuro ICU at South Buffalo Mercy, he was showing solid signs of improvement and thankfully was released to go home on the morning of Thursday, December 10th.
At this time, his doctor has decided that no additional intervention (surgery) is needed due to Jeramy’s improvement thus far. The largest concern is addressing the trauma to his right inner carotid artery to ensure a new clot does not form and
Jeramy is still weak and is experiencing numbness and tingling from time to time, especially on his left side, but that's to be expected and he may be like this for a while as the healing process continues. He still has a way to go to fully recover but he has already made amazing progress — we are so grateful this was caught as early as it was.
For those of you who personally know Jeramy, then you know that he is extremely anxious to get back on stage performing the music that we all know, love, and enjoy. ☮️❤️ Jeramy is as a full-time musician and is lucky because not many do not have the opportunity to do what they love as their career. During these uncertain times amidst the Covid-19 pandemic and now during his recovery from the stroke a few of us have come together to do our best to help support someone and his family who gives us so much happiness with his music.
The past year began with the two getting married on Halloween of 2019. A truly joyous occasion. However, the year following has been very difficult for them. Shortly after their wedding a hacker would steal all of the gifted money from their wedding. Over the summer they expressed pure joy in the announcement that they would be adding a mini-Carroll to the family, but Laura soon after had a miscarriage. Not long after their car was stolen, along with his partials.
Having his partials stolen a couple months ago has had a huge effect on Jeramy and his health. It is also one of the factors that may have led to his stroke. The dissection was mostly likely caused by trauma to his neck. So, between past car accidents (from many years ago) manipulating his own neck and SEVERE dental issues the dissection occurred. The most important thing is that the main cause was the dental issues and that he needs to get new teeth ASAP, and partials are not easily affordable.
This GoFundMe page has been created to offer support during Jeramy’s recovery. As of current, Jeramy’s playing has been put on hold indefinitely regardless of current COVID-19 guidelines here in Buffalo, NY. These funds will help to cover some of the financial burden caused by Jeramys inability to work, as well as help to get the dental work he so desperately needs.
Laura is lucky enough that during these times her full-time job is able to be done while at home, however, she will need to take a leave of absence from her part time job in order to take care of him.
Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement to Jeramy and all of your support in any way. We cannot wait for Jeramy to be able to get back on the stage to perform for his community again! ☮️❤️
