Mark Thornton Journey thru Cancer

Our Dear family member, friend, and servant of The Lord, Mark Thornton needs our help. Thinking that he had severe heartburn and a pulled muscle in his rib cage, Mark went to the ER on December 15, 2014- one day before his 59th Birthday. That day he left with a diagnosis of Stage IV Esophageal cancer with metastasis to the liver, bone, and lymph nodes. He also suffered a heart attack and internal bleeding on Christmas Day.
Mark is the husband of my sister Julie, father of 3 grown sons and 5 grandchildren. He is also a father figure to many whom he has mentored over the last 20 plus years. As one of his sons wrote on Facebook for Father’s Day- "Even as us kids have moved out and have our own families, you continue to be a father figure to many kids who need that in their lives, and it makes me proud to call you Daddy”. Mark is also very active in his Church, Grace Bible Church of Central Florida, serving in the Music and Sound Ministry, as an Ordained Deacon, and especially in the Youth Ministry. God is using him mightily, and we are relying fully on The Lord Jesus Christ to heal him, and believe that God has a plan for Mark’s life here on earth.
I also believe that God commands us to help those in need -and Mark and Julie truly need our help.
Galatians 6:2 “Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the Law of Christ”
Luke 6:38 “ Give and it will be given to you.”
Acts 20:35 “ We must help the weak, remembering the words The Lord Jesus himself said,” It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
I am asking for your help through GoFundMe to help with medical expenses. Deductibles, copays, and out of pocket expenses from his insurance started over January 1, 2015. There are also other complimentary treatments that are not covered by insurance that have been proven effective in treating this cancer. Also, Mark and Julie will need financial help to defray the cost from loss of income now, and in the future.
God is in control and I am praying that he will touch your hearts and that you would help my brother-in-law in his fight against this terrible cancer. No amount is too small. Even if you are unable to give at this time- please lift up Mark and his family in prayer!!
