Maggie Ethridge Panic Treatment

Donation protected
Hi I am Edward Curry and Maggie Ethridge is my wife of 13 years.   Anyone who knows us online or in person knows that Maggie is the outgoing one and I am the more private one.  I am breaking my mold and doing something that makes me very uncomfortable because Maggie really needs help.

So here is a quick summary of what has happened.
>Maggie has a history of PTSD since childhood which has been well mananged with a small dose of Zoloft, nutrition and lifestyle.  Including the love of family and friends.  She was once hospitalized for a week at 17 for severe anxiety and depression.

>Sept. 16th Maggie woke me thinking she was having a heart attack.  The ER did a full evaluation for her heart and proclaimed her healthy as a horse.

>Sept. 17th Maggie fell into a continuous panic attack.  Without giving tedious details we spent the next few days trying everything we possibly could to stop the adrenaline dumping in her stomach including another trip to the ER and a plea to her Primary Doctor who would not fit her in for a week and a half.  Within days Maggie had lost 7 pounds could not care for our children, could not work and could not stop crying.  She lived in sheer terror and nothing we could say or do would help her even Xanax did not work.

>Sept.23rd I had to make the  choice to take  Maggie to the local county psychiatric hospital. They gave her heavy sedatives and she was able to sleep for the first time in a week.

> Sept.24th The small amount of Clonazepam they sent us home with   was not working. She remained in a constant state of panic and unable to function. I had to the make the impossible choice to have Maggie admitted as an inpatient to the mental health facility.

>Sept. 25th Now that Maggie has been released from the mental health facility I am realizing that we are in grave danger of Maggie having another nervous breakdown.  This is not because I do not believe that Maggie cannot fully recover.

In June Maggie lost her contract job. Soon after we had to let go our our insurance we could no longer afford. We have to use county assistance to get Maggie the help she needs. Maggie has exactly six days left of the medication the doctor prescribed her, which he gave with a clear written plan of useage for a few weeks, in addition to therapy, after which Maggie would wean off and heal. However he made it clear if she stopped the drug she could relapse worse than she was in the first place.

The county facilitiator who we've seen has taken our info. and said it would be 4-6 weeks before a psychiastrist can see Maggie. In addition. the med clinic that would normally give medications to get a patient through the 'gap time' between appointments will NOT give Maggie these meds because they are benzos. Maggie has no history of any drug or alcohol use in her entire adult life, nor does she want to stay on these drugs, which are so hard on your organs and mind. She wants a fighting chance to get better and is terrified of regressing.

As of now she can do little more than function around the house. We are all sleeping in the same room and helping her the best we can but what she needs is a pyschiatrist and medication and therapy, even for a brief time.

I have used all of my work sick and vacation time as Maggie has been terrified to be alone. Our family resources are stretched and I am the primary breadwinner.

THE MONEY WILL BE USED FOR

Psychiatrist ( initial payment is 2x as much as any ongoing visits )
Therapist specializing in 'panic loop disorder' which Maggie is experiencing
Any payment for childcare while Maggie cannot care for the kids for this brief time.
Assisting in making up for Maggie's lost income during this time.

I will  provide paperwork proof of the situation if necessary. I have found a psychiatrist close to our home who is a woman who specializes in severe cases like Maggie's, and who has an impeccable reputation. This is her website: http://www.janetanakamd.org/index.html

Maggie wanted me to add this.
" I am tired.I am tired. I am true of heart! And also: You are tired. You are true of heart!"- Dave Eggers

She sends her love.

Publicly asking for help is an incredibly diffuclt and embarassing task for me.   But watching the most loving, giving, strongest woman I have ever know be torn down by this has made everything else small.  There are no words for watching the love of your life suffer and only be able to stand beside them and feel helpless.  Any help, any, would mean more to me and my family then I could express.
